Sugar and Spice Nuts


Makes 4 cups

4 tablespoons margarine or butter
¼ cup honey
4 teaspoons light brown sugar
2 tablespoons Ras El Hanout (recipe below and available in the spice aisle in most markets)
1 teaspoon salt
1 pound pecan halves

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
In a skillet, melt margarine with honey, sugar, Ras El Hanout and salt over medium-low heat, whisking to dissolve sugar. Once smooth, remove and add pecans and toss to coat.
Transfer to a parchement lined baking sheet and spread in a single layer. Bake 20 – 25 minutes.
Cool and store in an airtight container.

Ras El Hanout is a North African spice blend.
2 tablespoons cumin
¼ cup sweet paprika
¼ cup ground black pepper
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 ½ teaspoons turmeric
