Chewy Granola Bars

You can never have enough recipes of enough food for after-school snacks

1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup peanut butter
½ cup corn syrup
½ cup margarine, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups quick-cooking oats
½ cup coconut
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup raisins
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (everyone needs a little treat after school!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, peanut butter, corn syrup, melted margarine and vanilla until well blended. Stir in remaining ingredients. Press evenly into greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Cool and cut into bars. Good for lunches also…

  1. my kids love chewy granola so I look forward to trying out the recipe, however, fyi about them being good for lunches, most schools that I know of are a nut free environment, so I am not sure about the sunflower or sesame seeds, but certainly the peanut butter wouldn’t be permitted.
