My Favorite White Sauce

Makes 2 cups
Awesome with Marsala braised mushrooms

2 cups heavy cream
½ cup chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
1 ½ teaspoons lemon zest
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 garlic clove, minced finely
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Pinch of kosher salt
Pinch of fresh ground black pepper

With an immersion blender or a regular blender, puree until thick and creamy, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Warm to blend flavors. Use on pizza or atop pasta.
