Green Beans with Onions

|

3-4 lbs fresh green beans
1/2 large onion, chopped fine
Olive oil for frying onion
About ½ cup water
Salt to taste
Margarine to taste

Snap point ends off green beans. In a preheated large soup pot, add a bit of oil. When heated, add onion and cook until they begin to soften. Add green beans, mix well with the onions and oil. The beans should be barely coated with oil. Add at most 1/2 cup of water, cover. Check once or twice to stir. Green beans are done when they are bright green, and upon tasting they are still firm but not crunchy. Add margarine and salt to taste.
