Does anyone know where to find the can of chocolate crème pie filling? I looked in all the markets and none had it or even knew what i was taking about. I substituted the Israeli chocolate spread but it was way too sweet. Thanks!
Aliza,
In Los Angeles, this can be found at LaBrea Kosher Market. If unavailable in your town, you can ask your local market to carry it or order directly from the manufacturer: http://www.luckyleaf.com. Then you have to order by the case but you can probably split that with a friend or two. I’ve ordered the lemon pie filling numerous times by the case and still needed more…
can chocolate pudding be substituted instead of the pie filling? what about chocolate spread?
I think you can do it with prepared chocolate pudding. Try it with either and let me know. The chocolate spread will need to be thinned a little more than the pudding. Let us know how it comes out
FYI, I just found kosher chocolate pie filling at the 99cent store (on La Brea/Willoughby). I haven’t seen it in La Brea Kosher
