Chicken and Potatoes in a Crock Pot


1 chicken, cut into 1/8ths or the pieces of your choice
8 potatoes, cut into chunks
1 cup white wine
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 (8 ounce) box sliced mushrooms
½ teaspoon pepper
Water to cover

Place all ingredients in crock-pot and turn on high. Dinner will be ready in 6 to 8 hours. Also good with a crusty bread to dip in the liquid.

  1. Can this be prepared before Shabbos for Shabbos day lunch by cooking on low instead of high?

    • Don’t know, but am about to try it. I figure how bad could it be? The chicken will be falling off the bone and the flavors could only intensify. Will let you know.

    • I use a dry white wine like a Chardonney but any white wine that is good enough to drink is good enough to cook with.
